The rebuilt and updated seaport of Crikvenica was inaugurated on Wednesday after the completion of a project of its upgrade, worth 33 million kuna (€4.4 million).
As usual, about 85 percent of the project was funded by the EU, which paid 27.9 million kuna (€3.7 million), while the remaining 5 million kuna (€660k) came from Croatia’s Ministry of Sea, Transport, and Infrastructure.
The upgrade consisted of the extension of the secondary breakwater by another 230 metres. The pier was extended by 50 more metres. “Some other improvements have been made, and the upgraded port is ready for vessels,” state agency Hina explained.
The updated infrastructure will facilitate commuting between the coastal town of Crikvenica and the nearby island of Krk.
