The State Judicial Council (DSV) on Wednesday appointed Zeljko Horvatovic the president of the newly-established High Criminal Court.
Horvatovic, who before his appointment as High Criminal Court president had served for a long time as a Zagreb County Court judge, was supported by six of 11 DSV members.
Judge Ivan Turudic, whom the media described as the candidate most likely to be appointed High Criminal Court president and whom former justice minister Drazen Bosnjakovic entrusted with activities related to the establishment of that court, received four votes.
Before his election as a High Criminal Court judge, Turudic was a judge at and president of the Zagreb County Court.
