Opposition MPs agree on no-confidence motion against Dalić

An agreement to request a no-confidence motion against Economy Minister Martina Dalić was reached at a meeting attended by all opposition parties and independents of the Croatian parliament on Wednesday (February 28).

The meeting was organised by the centre-right party Most, a former member of the ruling coalition which went into opposition after Prime Minister Plenković had fired four of its ministers in April last year.

Most’s secretary Nikola Grmoja said he expected all opposition parties to support the no-confidence motion against Dalić, accused of conflict of interest and mishandling of the debt crisis at the food company Agrokor.

When asked about rumours that liberal parties IDS and Glas would join Most’s initiative only if opposition MPs also supported ratifying the Istanbul Convention on combating violence against women – a move some conservative MPs oppose – Grmoja said no such ultimatum was mentioned.

“There were no ultimatums, the only topic discussed was whether we should go for a no-confidence vote against the entire cabinet, or a motion against Dalić. We agreed on Dalić,” said Grmoja.
