Croatia's tourism ministry and the national tourist board (HTZ) estimated that the numbers of incoming visitors for this year's Easter weekend would remain unchanged from 2017, when 120,000 tourists visited the country.
"We believe that this year's Easter tourist turnover will be at least roughly the same as last year's. However, one should take into account that Easter fell two weeks later back then," Tourism Minister, Gari Cappelli, said.
Furthermore, weather forecast can also impact visitors' arrivals, except for four- and five-star hotels which are already fully booked for the Easter holidays, Cappelli added.
Head of the HTZ, Kristjan Staničić, said that during last year's Easter holidays, there were 120,000 visitors who made more than 400,000 overnight stays in the country.
"Easter is informally viewed as the kick off to the tourist season in Croatia, and in that sense we expect the Eastern weekend to have a positive impact on tourist trends," Staničić said.
