Cattle, sheep, goat and poultry farming decreased in Croatia in 2018 as did cow, sheep and goat milk and egg production while pig farming and wool production increased, show figures from the national statistical office (DZS).

Preliminary figures on livestock farming in 2018 show that cow milk production in 2018 was 519.9 million litres, 17.4% down from 2017.

“The figures show that the decline in cow milk production that started in 2012 has continued,” statisticians say.

The production of sheep milk decreased by 12.2% to 7.76 million litres while the production of goat milk dropped by 7.8% to 9.6 million litres.

Cattle farming dropped by 8.4% to 61,081 tonnes, sheep farming fell by 3.5% to 9,317 tonnes, goat farming decreased by 0.5% to 1,180 tonnes and poultry farming went down by 0.6% to 116,518 tonnes.

The production of chicken eggs dropped by 9.9% to 589 million.

On the other hand, pig farming increased by 5.8% to 158,600 tonnes and wool production went up 3.2% to 1,100 tonnes.
