Croatia's Jan-Aug 2019 exports reach €10 billion, up by 5.8 pct year-on-year

Croatia's commodity exports in the first eight months of 2019 totalled 74.1 billion kuna (€10 billion), up 5.8 percent year-on-year, while imports went up 5.9 percent to 123.5 billion kuna (€16.6 billion) , the country's statistics bureau reported on Wednesday.

The foreign trade deficit was 49.4 billion kuna (6.6 billion), widening by 2.8 billion kuna (378 million) than in the same period last year. The export-import ratio inched down from 60.1 percent to 60.0 percent year-on-year.

Commodity exports to EU member states in the period from January to August totalled 50.1 billion kuna (6.7 billion), up 4.6 percent on the year, and 24 billion kuna (3.2 billion) to non-EU countries, up 8.5 percent.

Commodity imports from EU member states increased by 9.1 percent to 99.6 billion kuna (13.4 billion) while at the same time imports from non-EU countries decreased by 5.7 percent to 23.9 billion kuna (3.2 billion).
