Damir Skaro, a former member of Parliament from the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and former president of the Siget Automobile Club, has been charged with rape and sexual harassment of an employee.
Citing only the defendant’s age, the County Prosecutor’s Office in Velika Gorica said on its website on Thursday that the 60-year-old is charged with sexual harassment and rape of an employee, which occurred between June and August this year.
Skaro, who is also an Olympic boxing bronze medalist, was released from pre-trial custody on 24 October.
The criminal complaint was filed by the employee’s doctor after she told her that Skaro had sexually assaulted her on the premises of the Siget Automobile Club early in August.
After the case came to light, the HDZ Zagreb branch took disciplinary action against Skaro.
