Slovenia is investigating five of its border police officers for allegedly enabling foreigners, mostly Bosnians, to stay in the Schengen area illegally in return for money, Slovenian authorities said on Monday.
“In return for money, they have falsely been verifying that citizens of third countries (non-Schengen members) had crossed the Schengen border and in this way enabled them to continuously stay in the Schengen area, contrary to the rules which limit their stay to 90 days, after which it becomes illegal,” said police spokesperson Vesna Drole.
The officers had allegedly falsely stamped passports of foreigners, mostly Bosnians, who were engaged in undeclared work in Slovenia. The price the foreigners would pay is believed to be up to 400 Euros.
