Labour and Pension System Minister Josip Aladrovic said on Monday that the government had invested about HRK 765 million in job retention measures in Slavonia, and that there had been no significant shocks on the labour market in that region despite the coronavirus epidemic.

Our reaction was timely and adequate and there were no significant shocks on the labour market in all five counties in Slavonia, Aladrovic said during the 11th session of the government’s Council for Slavonia, Baranja and Srijem.

Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Tomislav Coric said that the second annex to the development agreement for Slavonia, Baranja and Srijem, for the five Slavonian counties, meant a perspective for financing their strategic projects within the EU’s new financial envelope.

The strategic projects include waste management centres, research of geothermal sources, construction of fruit and vegetable drying plants, all of which are projects that will increase Croatia’s self-sufficiency in food production, Coric said.

Health Minister Vili Beros said that the project of building and equipping a new university hospital in Osijek was a priority in line with the government’s health policy, which stressed the importance of polycentric regional development.

The second annex to the development agreement for Slavonia, Baranja and Srijem was signed at the Council’s session, announcing the realisation of strategic projects worth nearly HRK 11 billion in five Slavonian counties.

After the session, 66 project contracts were signed, worth a total of HRK 440 million.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said that the next session of the Council for Slavonia would be held in in Pleternica, Pozega-Slavonia County.
