Agricultural producer prices up 21.2 pct

Average agricultural producer prices increased by 21.2% in the fourth quarter of 2021 compared with the same period of 2020, according to data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS).

The price of plant products increased by 27.6% while those of livestock, poultry and animal products increased by 4.3%.

The increase in plant product prices was mostly due to a 42.9% rise in the price of industrial crops and a 63.2% rise in the price of cereals, which have the largest share in plant production.

The price of potatoes, including seed potatoes, increased significantly in Q4, 2021, up 75.2%.

The price of olive oil increased too (+12.2%), vegetables (+10.2%), and wine (+10.2%) while the price of fruit increased by 1%.

As for products making up the largest share in the livestock sector, the price of cattle increased the most (+11.1%), sheep and goats (+5.2%), poultry (+1.4%) while the price of pigs fell by 1%.

According to DZS the price of milk increased by 2.2% and eggs increased in price by 8.3%.

Prices of fertiliser skyrocket as much as 185.2%

The price of goods and services increased by 38.6% in Q4, year-on-year.

This was mostly influenced by the increase in energy prices of 38.8% and the cost of fertilisers which increased by as much as 185.2%.
