Coronavirus: Slovenia continues to see falling numbers

Slovenia on Friday reported 1,737 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours as the country continued to see signs of improvement in the epidemiological situation.

By comparison, a month ago, on 3 November, Slovenia recorded 4,518 new cases, their highest number in a single day during the fourth wave of the epidemic.

The number of active cases has declined to 31,796. The 14-day incidence has fallen by 84 cases since Thursday to 1,508 per 100,000 population, while the seven-day average of daily new cases has dropped by 88 to 1,906, falling for the first time below 2,000.

The number of hospitalizations is stagnating. A total of 1,059 people were being treated for Covid-19 in hospitals on Friday, including 270 placed in intensive care.

Seventeen Covid patients have died in the last 24 hours, bringing the country's Covid-related death toll to 5,272.

The favorable epidemiological situation is expected to improve tourism results during the skiing season, which formally started on Friday.
