The parliamentary information and media committee on Monday first withdrew last week's nomination of Robert Sveb for Croatian Radio-Television (HRT) director-general due to a breach of the standing orders and then nominated him by majority vote.
Sveb was nominated by the ruling HDZ party and supported by seven committee members from the ruling coalition, while Dario Spelic, nominated by the Green-Left Bloc, received two opposition votes.
The HRT director-general is appointed by parliament at a plenary for a five-year period. If parliament fails to appoint the new director-general by Thursday, when 45 days will have passed since the deadline for submitting applications, the public call advertised late in July will be cancelled.
