Slovenia has confirmed 7,122 new coronavirus cases and 18 COVID-related deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the National Public Health Institute.
The seven-day average of daily infections has fallen to 6,735 and the 14-day incidence rate to 6,438. Currently, 794 COVID patients are being treated in hospitals and 137 of them are in intensive care.
The number of confirmed infections in the last 24 hours has fallen by more than 7,000 compared with the situation a week ago, and all other indicators are also on the decline.
Last week, Slovenia recorded 51,000 new coronavirus cases, which was 38,000 fewer than the week before, while the number of hospitalised COVID patients remained almost the same. Last week, 106 patients died from the consequences of COVID-19, 20 fewer than the week before that, according to the Health Ministry.
Health Minister Janez Poklukar is meeting with epidemiologists and other health professionals on Tuesday afternoon to discuss this downward trend and formulate a proposal to adapt the epidemiological measures to the new situation. The proposal would be put before the government on Thursday.
