Croatia's Jan-Apr exports rise by 1 pct, exports by 5.6 pct

Croatia's exports in the first four months of 2018 amounted to 33.03 billion kuna (€4.47 billion), or 1.0 percent up from the same period in 2017, whereas imports increased by 5.6 percent to 55.5 billion kuna (€7.52 billion), preliminary data released by the state statistics bureau on Thursday showed.

The deficit in Croatia's exchange totalled 22.5 billion kuna in the January-April period of this year, rising by 2.6 billion kuna year-on-year, and the coverage of imports by exports shrank to 59.5 percent from 62.2 percent.

In the first four months of 2018, exports to EU member states rose 7.8 percent to 22.9 billion kuna (€3.10 billion), and exports to non-EU countries declined by 11.5 percent to 10.1 billion kuna (€1.37 billion).

In the same period, imports from EU member states rose 6.1 percent to 43.98 billion kuna (€5.96 billion), while imports from non-EU member countries rose by 3.9 percent to 11.5 billion kuna (€1.55 billion) year-on-year.
