
In April 2018 the average net salary in Croatia was 6,220 kuna (€844), down 1.2 percent in real terms compared to March, but up by 3.8 percent from April 2017, the state statistics bureau said on Thursday.
The median net salary in April was 5,076 kuna (€689), meaning that half of all employees in the country had higher salaries than that, and the other half earned less than that.
By business sector, the highest net salaries were in the finance and services industry, 10,427 kuna (€1,415), while the lowest earners were in leather manufacturing, 4,035 (€547).
The average gross salary was 8,420 kuna (€1,142), down 1.3 percent in real terms month-on-month, yet up 4.6 percent year-on-year.
In terms of hourly wage, the average net wage was 37.32 kuna (€5), up by 4.2 percent from March, and by 1.1 percent from April 2017. The average gross wage was 50.52 kuna (€6.8).
In the first four months of this year as a whole, the average net salary was 6,198 (€841), up 3.4 percent in real terms year-on-year. The average gross salary in the same period was 8,381 (€1,137), up by 4 percent in real terms compared to the first four months of 2017.
