In February 2019, the average monthly net salary in Croatia was 6,369 kuna (€857), or 3.9 percent up year-on-year, the state statistics bureau said on Friday.
Compared to January, the average net salary dropped by 0.5 percent. At the same time, the average gross salary in February 2019 was calculated at 8,645 kuna (€1,163), or 4.5 percent higher compared to the same month the year before.
By business sector, the highest average net salary was recorded in the manufacturing of “basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations” where it totalled 16,262 kuna (€2,189), while the lowest net earnings were recorded in “security and investigation activities,” where employees were paid 4,115 kuna (€554) per month on average.
The latest increase of average salary are in line with most analysts’ expectations, as economic growth coupled with what is becoming a chronic shortage of workers on the local labour market are likely to continue putting upward pressures to salary levels.
