Over the past 24 hours Montenegro has confirmed 60 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total up to 1,582, and the number of active cases per 100,000 inhabitants is 251, health authorities said on Thursday.

After the first wave of the epidemic, Montenegro was the first country in Europe to stamp out the novel coronavirus, declaring the end of the epidemic in early June and opening its borders as a corona-free tourist destination.

However, the virus reappeared in mid-June, brought by Montenegrin citizens who had stayed in Serbia and who returned home via Bosnia and Herzegovina to avoid quarantine.
