In the last 24 hours, Slovenia performed 3,123 coronavirus tests, and of them a record high 123 tests turned out to be positive, the Slovenian government reported on Wednesday.
Over recent days, Slovenia has been experiencing a surge in the detected infections with the novel virus, and the country is going to open the fourth hospital only for Covid-19 patients.
There are currently 975 active cases, and of them, 61 are being treated in hospitals.
The government’s spokesman Jelko Kacin reassured the general public on Tuesday that the country had the sufficient number of ventilators for the treatment of Covid patients who are in a serious condition.
In the last 14 days, Slovenia’s ratio of the number of confirmed infections per 100,000 inhabitants surpassed 40. Hotspots are usually private gatherings and private parties in hospitality facilities which is why the government is mulling the restrictions for those businesses.
