Epidemiologists in Montenegro said on Tuesday that the coronavirus situation in that country is "out of control" and demanded that the authorities impose a total lockdown to curb the spread of the disease.
The situation is Montenegro is "complex, worrisome and alarming", said epidemiologist Marija Bozovic, as quoted by Croatia's state agency Hina.
Montenegro, which has a population of about 600,000, the daily case loads since January have always been above 500, and it is in the world's top ten countries in terms of Covid-related deaths per 100,000 people.
Since the outbreak of the epidemic, the death toll due to Covid-19 has increased to 1,129.
Meanwhile, more than 5,000 Montenegrins have been vaccinated, or less than one percent of the population.
