This week’s heavy rains caused flooding in the Serbian capital and other parts of the country.
The Serbian state TV said that communal services had to deal with hundreds of calls reporting flooded streets and basements across Belgrade over the past two days.
Reports said that 40 liters of rain fell in central parts of the city in a 12 hour period and 70 liters in suburban areas in the same period.
The worst affected areas were in New Belgrade and in the suburbs of Obrenovac and Palilula where main streets and basements were flooded.
Local authorities in other parts of the country reported flooded farm land as well as city streets.
The river Korenita spilled over its banks onto farm land where geologists have been drilling for lithium, causing fear of pollution which local farmers have been warning about for months.
