The state of epidemic emergency declared in Slovenia on 18 October 2020 due to the Covid-19 epidemic will no longer be extended, Health Ministry State Secretary, Franc Vindisar, said on Tuesday.

According to the criteria of the European Centre for Disease Control Slovenia is still not in the safe, green zone, so the wearing of face masks indoors will continue to be obligatory, as will hand disinfection, physical distancing and some other anti-epidemic measures.

Attendance at some group events will continue to be possible only for those who have recovered from Covid-19, have been inoculated, or have recently tested negative for coronavirus.

According to the latest data, there are 122 Covid-19 patients in hospitals, the least since 7 October.

The government's Covid-19 response team will continue to analyse the epidemiological situation on a weekly basis and propose recommendations accordingly.

Vindisar called on citizens to get vaccinated, noting that there was a sufficient quantity of vaccines.

"The epidemic has put many challenges before us. We will overcome them through cooperation and solidarity but we have not crossed the finishing line yet," he said.
