The Studenac food retail chain on Tuesday reported that it had acquired the Dubrovnik-based Pemo retail chain, which has 38 stores in Dubrovnik-Neretva County and employs more than 300 workers.

Studenac has bought a 100 percent share in the Pemo company and the latest acquisition is the continuation of Studenac’s expansion over the past few years.

Studenac now has almost 750 stores.

“Despite all the challenges, Studenac is continuing to achieve its business objectives and growth, and continually improving its business, as evidenced by the latest acquisition,” the president of Studenac’s management board, Michal Senczuk, said.

Studenac appeared in Zagreb in May 2021, with a new concept of stores. Since then it has opened nine stores in and around the capital city’s downtown area.

Studenac is one of the leading retail chains in Croatia and it has almost 750 stores and more than 4,000 employees.

Studenac has been operating since 1991 and in 2018 it was taken over by the Polish Enterprise Investors investment fund.

“We’ve invested more than €250 million in the food retail sector in Croatia and that is not the end,” Michal Kedzia of Enterprise Investors said.
