Broken down by occupation, pilots had the highest average monthly salary in 2021, at 21,936 kuna (€2,925), followed by IT directors, 20,549 kuna (€2,740), regional directors, with 20,154 kuna (€2,687), and air traffic controllers and sales managers, the MojPosao job search portal said on Thursday.
According to the portal’s data, in 2021 the average monthly net salary, including allowances, amounted 7,188 kuna, or 7 percent up from 2020.
Aside from managerial positions, where salaries were on average 128% higher than the average salary, the best paid jobs were those in the field of technology and development, 62% more than the average, IT, where salaries were 36% higher than the average, and telecommunications, where they were 23% higher.
Broken down by occupation, pilots had the highest average monthly pay in 2021, of HRK 21,936, followed by IT directors, HRK 20,549, and regional directors, HRK 20,154, as well as air traffic controllers, HRK 19,201, and sales managers, with HRK 17,712.
The least paid workers were sewers, with the average monthly pay of HRK 4,294, cleaners, with HRK 4,332, hairdressers, with HRK 4,352, and security guards, with HRK 4,465.
Salaries in foreign-owned private companies were 9% higher than the average, amounting to HRK 7,860, while salaries in domestic companies were 5% lower than the average, HRK 6,826. The average salary in state-owned companies was HRK 6,750, 6% below the average, while the monthly pay of workers in state administration and local government units was HRK 6,570, 9% below the average.
Broken down by county, three eastern counties with lowest monthly take-home pay
The lowest salaries, 20% below the average, were reported in Pozega-Slavonia County, followed by Brod-Posavina County, 18% below the average, and Virovitica-Podravina County, 17% below the average.
The highest average salary in 2021 was recorded in the City of Zagreb, amounting to HRK 8,041, 12% above the average.
77% of employees receive some kind of allowance
The number of employees who in addition to their salary receive certain allowances grew mildly in 2021, to 77% as against 73% in 2020.
Travel allowances are the most frequent type of allowance, with 36% of employees receiving that type of allowance. It is followed by the use of company-issued mobile phone (24%), flexible working hours (21%), and meal allowance (19%).
