A court in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday set detention for three Pakistanis arrested late in September over a case of brutal human trafficking violence.

The three men will stay in detention for the next month on suspicion of having taken a large sum of money from two Nepali nationals on the promise that they would transfer them from BiH to an EU country, the Tuzla Canton prosecutor's office said.

Instead of doing that, they held the two men captive, physically abusing them and brutally raping one.

An investigation established that they took at least €5,500 from the two Nepali, then took them to a forest near Tuzla, tied them to a tree, intimidated and abused them.

"They intimidated them with videos and photographs of people being tortured and put a knife under the throat of one Nepali, who was still tied, forcing him to have sexual intercourse with them. After a certain period of time, the Nepali managed to escape and report the events to the police," the  prosecutor's office said.

Police identified and arrested the perpetrators in a short time.
