Interior Minister Davor Bozinovic said on Sunday that there was absolutely political will to investigate everything in the case involving Milijan Brkic, stressing that the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) had nothing to do with the case.
Bozinovic underscored the police would investigate everything, in accordance with the law, reiterating that the case had nothing to do with the HDZ.
Chief of Police Nikola Milina said a special task force had been set up to investigate this case.
After Nacional weekly reported that senior HDZ official Milijan Brkic leaked the information to suspects under police surveillance in the 2011 elite prostitution case, the Chief State Prosecutor’s Office said the file on Brkic was missing.
Bozinovic also commented on the case of a police officer who was caught smuggling illegal migrants.
Bozinovic said this could not be tolerated, adding that it was also an indicator of the strength of the police system which promptly reacted.
A police officer from Zagreb was arrested in Korenicka Kapela on Friday while transporting in his van migrants who have illegally entered Croatia from Bosnia and Herzegovina
Police stopped the van with migrants and discovered that the driver was a 40-year old police officer from Zagreb. There were 18 illegal migrants from Pakistan in the van.
The police officer will be suspended until the investigation ends.
Bozinovic also commented on the case of a Syrian migrant and his five-year-old daughter whom he reported missing.
The media reported that the Syrian migrant was found in Italy, but Bozinovic said no official confirmation arrived from Italy as of yet.
