The Steering Board on Monday relieved of duty the director of the Zadar welfare centre, Vesna Burcul, with a majority vote, Board president Marina Vukovic Dujmovic told the press.
The decision was not unanimous, three members were in favour of the dismissal and two were against.
“Director Burcul has waived her right to state her position in writing, so we decided to relieve the director of her duty and later today we will send our decision to the relevant ministry for consent,” Vukovic Dujmovic said.
Asked if the director was fired or demoted, Vukovic Dujmovic said “director Burcul was not fired, but only relieved of her duty and in accordance with the law she will continue to work in the welfare centre.
An acting director has not yet been appointed.
Asked what did relieving Burcul of her duty accomplish, Vukovic Dujmovic said that once an acting director in appointed, the Steering Board will ask that some things be organised differently.
The Social Welfare Centre in the coastal city of Zadar is responsible for the family of four children who were recently thrown off from their home’s balcony by their father.
