In the past 24 hours, Slovenia has recorded a mere 83 new coronavirus cases, with a record low percentage of positive tests. As a result, the government has announced that as of June 1, it expects to lift the restrictions currently in place, the Slovenian authorities reported on Monday.
Of 1,405 tests conducted in the past 24 hours, 83 have returned positive, which is a percentage of 5.9 percent. There are currently 316 hospitalised Covid-19 patients and 5,539 active cases in the country.
The number of fatalities is also on the decline – in the past 24 hours, one Covid-infected person has died, bringing the total death toll in the country to 4,335.
The seven-day average of infections in Slovenia stands at 333. In order to be declared in the green zone, the average rate has to fall to below 300. That can be expected this week and the government has announced that, as of June 1, it will announce new relaxation of most restrictive measures, while keeping the basic ones.
According to the latest data from the government, so far 36.5 percent of the population has received at least one dose of a vaccine while 19.4 percent have received both shots.
Since the outbreak of the epidemic, a total of almost 242,000 people have been infected with the virus.
Health Minister Janez Poklukar said on Monday that the supplies of vaccines would increase by the summer and that most of the population will have been inoculated by then.
