“This area has been active in the last days,” seismologist Kresimir Kuk told N1. “We predicted this and it’s realistic to expect a few 4 or 5 magnitude aftershocks after the strong earthquake (last week). This will continue over the next few months.”
On December 29, a destructive 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck the Sisak-Moslavina County in central Croatia, killing seven people and devastating the town of Petrinja and surrounding villages.
Wednesday’s tremor is the strongest aftershock that rocked the area following the December 29th quake.
