The Association of Croatian Exporters has sent an appeal to the government for a proposal to be sent to the EU to establish a fund to compensate the damage to the economy that emerges as a consequence of Russia's invasion of Ukraine in all EU member states.

Croatia’s exporters are monitoring the events in Ukraine with great attention and concern in the wake of Russia’s aggression.

“Our exporters support the government and EU measures so far aimed at punishing the aggression. Naturally, the said measures are also causing damage to Croatia’s economy and all of the EU, directly or indirectly, due to the absence of free movement of goods and services but also of people and capital,” the exporters said in a press release.

The exporters underscored that the damage already caused due to goods not being delivered, severed business relations and disrupted sales and supply chains will in the future be even greater, hence it is necessary to begin with resolutions and creating measures to assist damaged economic subjects by the competent institutions in Croatia and the EU.

“In that regard we have sent a proposal to the government that, in addition to the measures to help the Croatian economy it plans to adopt independently, to also send a proposal to the European Union to establish a fund at the European Union level to compensate for the damage to the economy caused by the consequences of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine,” the Association of Croatian exporters said.
