The government is going to authorise the HAC motorway operator to publish a call for tenders soon for the completion of the Zagreb-Sisak motorway, Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic tweeted on Monday. The estimated value of the final stage of this project is 300 million kuna (€40 million), and the call should be advertised this month.

Plenkovic described the entire project as ‘essential for the revitalisation’ of the Sisak-Moslavina County.

The construction of the A11 motorway between Zagreb and Sisak started in 2006 with a ring-road between Zagreb’s suburb of Jakusevec and Velika Gorica. The total length of the completed motorway will be 47.5 kilometres. The nine-kilometre-long section between Velika Gorica, just south of Zagreb, and Busevec, was completed in May 2009.

In April 2015, the Busevec-Lekenik section, 11.2 kilometres long, was opened to traffic.

The planned costs for the construction of the Jakusevec-Velika Gorica section were estimated at HRK 780 million, while the Velika Gorica-Lekenik section’s costs were estimated at HRK 580 million.

Tolls are to be paid for the entire motorway, except for the toll-free Jakusevec-Velika Gorica section.

The entire project includes the construction of 17 bridges, five viaducts, 20 overpasses, seven underpasses and 17 water underdrains.
