Education-sector workers will vote on the government's latest offer to end the ongoing strike on Wednesday and Thursday and the outcome of the vote will determine if the strike will be ended and schools continue working on Friday.

The government’s latest offer to the striking unions consists of a base pay increase and a cumulative 10.4% wage supplement.

The unions have been demanding a 6.11% increase in the job complexity index for teachers.

The wage increase would be achieved by amending the basic collective agreement to increase the base pay by 6.12% for all government and public sector employees and introduce a wage supplement only for education-sector employees of 4% or 5% if the government fails to adopt a new regulation on job complexity indices by 1 December 2020.

If the unions accept the offer, the striking teachers would be paid for the days spent on strike.

One of the striking unions said on Facebook on Wednesday morning that the striking teachers would be voting on the government’s offer on Wednesday and Thursday and that the outcome of the vote would be known on Thursday.

On Wednesday morning, photos were posted on the Facebook wall of the Croatian Teachers Union from primary schools across the country showing teachers with signs saying ‘No’ to the government’s offer.
