In response to the highest ever number of daily cases reported on Friday, Croatia's coronavirus task force announced a set of new restrictions, which include more widespread use of mandatory Covid passes and limits on gatherings.
From 15 November, Covid certificates will be mandatory for everyone working in public and government services.
Interior Minister and head of the national coronavirus task force, Davor Bozinovic, announced that Covid passes – available to people who have been vaccinated, who have recovered, or have tested negative – will be made mandatory for all employees of state and public institutions, as well as for people who will be using their services or coming in to their offices.
An even broader mandate for Covid passes will go into force in mid-November should the numbers of new cases continue to go up. This means that Covid passes might become required for cafes, restaurants, gyms, and all indoor fitness centers. Unless the situation improves, as of 4 January, Covid passes will be issued only to people who have been vaccinated or who have recovered, and will no longer be available to people who have tested negative but haven’t been vaccinated.
“This is enough time for those who haven’t been vaccinated yet to do so by then,” Bozinovic said.
Also, starting on 6 November, indoor public events and gatherings will be limited to a maximum of 50, “unless the event is attended only by individuals with the EU-approved digital vaccination certificate.” Outdoor public events and gatherings can be organized for more than 100 people only if everyone attending can show a digital certificate and the local authorities have approved the event.
All businesses and establishments must adhere to social distancing requirements. Face masks remain mandatory indoors and in all outdoor spaces where social distancing cannot be observed.
