The damage caused to cultural assets and institutions by the devastating quakes that hit northern and central Croatia in 2020, is estimated at €640 million, the central state office for reconstruction and housing reported on Friday.
The damage to cultural institutions and listed buildings in the areas where a natural disaster has been declared exceeds 400 million euros, and damage in neighbouring areas where the tremors also left consequences has been estimated at slightly over 200 million euros.
The above-mentioned office has taken over the task of rebuilding and renovating the damaged listed buildings in the old towns of Sisak, Petrinja and Glina, which were struck by a 6.4-magnitude earthquake on 29 December 2020.
A thorough plan for reconstruction will be hammered out after consultations with local authorities and other relevant ministries.
