Social Democratic Party president Pedja Grbin said on Thursday that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's ad on Hungary's vision of the EU in Croatian media was inappropriate and that he expected the Foreign Ministry to respond.

“It’s not normal for the Hungarisation of the HDZ (Croatia’s ruling party) to result in Viktor Orban, who holds the media in Hungary in an iron grip, trying to do the same in Croatia with Hungarian government money,” Grbin told the press.

The Hungarian government has paid for Orban’s ad “On the future of the European Union”  in Vecernji List daily in which he presents his vision of the EU and proposes admitting Serbia. The Croatian Foreign Ministry has said it does not share the views from the ad.

Grbin also said he was appalled by Bridge MP Nikola Grmoja’s announcement of a bill on stricter punishment for paedophiles and banning “LGBT propaganda.”

“Grbin links paedophilia with LGBT persons. That borders on hate speech. Those two things have nothing in common. It’s shameful and I expect Grmoja to apologise.”
