The director of the University Hospital Centre (KBC) in Rijeka, Alen Ruzic, said on Monday that the hospital had prepared in time for the introduction of mandatory Covid certificates in healthcare, so the system for certificate control was operating normally, as were all hospital activities.
Ruzic told a press conference that the hospital had started preparing as soon as the decision on Covid certificates in healthcare was made at the end of last week.
Ruzic said that most of the nearly 3,500 employees had a Covid certificate, adding that 460 employees had to be tested.
He said that four hospital employees had tested positive for coronavirus at the weekend, noting that this confirmed such procedures were necessary in order to prevent the disease from spreading further.
He confirmed there was an increase in the interest of the hospital staff in inoculation and that they were in constant contact with the head of the Teaching Institute of Public Health of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, Vladimir Micovic.
Ruzic said that since the measures entered into force at the end of last week, 56 health workers had been vaccinated, nearly all of whom were employees of the KBC hospital.
Epidemiological situation in county stable
The head epidemiologist for the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, Dobrica Roncevic, said that the epidemiological situation in the county was stable.
In September, the interest for vaccination increased, especially among health workers, and 92.41% of them have received the first vaccine dose, and 85% have received the second dose, putting Primorje-Gorski Kotar County at the very top of the ranking in Croatia, he said.
