Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic and his visiting Slovenian counterpart Borut Pahor on Wednesday met in Podgorica to discuss the further enlargement of the European Union to include western Balkan aspirants, Croatian state agency Hina reported.

Pahor, who visited Montenegro within his tour ahead of the Brdo-Brijuni Summit Meeting scheduled for 17 May in Slovenia, said that the process of the EU enlargement to the Western Balkans reached a standstill.

He went on to say that it was now his duty, together with his colleagues from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Albania and in cooperation with the EU institutions, to find fresh ideas for a renewed strategy for faster enlargement.

“This is not an easy task,” he admitted in Podgorica.

Djukanovic said that he and Pahor shared similar views on the process of the enlargement of the European Union to the Western Balkans.
