Slovenia's Foreign Minister Anže Logar announced on Wednesday that he would pay a working visit to Croatia on Friday, his first since the coalition government of Prime Minister Janez Janša was formed in April last year, adding that he would also visit earthquake-hit Sisak-Moslavina County.

The main topic of discussion during his visit will be Croatia’s declaration of an Exclusive Economic Zone in the Adriatic, Logar told the parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee.

The visit comes less than a month after a trilateral meeting in Trieste of the foreign ministers of Italy, Croatia and Slovenia on the same issue.

Logar told lawmakers that Slovenia can be satisfied with being included in consultations with the neighbouring countries that intend to declare economic zones in the Adriatic.

“The development of events offers optimism,” said Logar, adding that the trilateral initiative foresees more meetings, firstly by experts and then again by the foreign ministers and finally between the prime ministers of all three countries.

Last week Logar was given the go ahead from the Foreign Affairs Committee to continue the government’s activities related to the trilateral cooperation.

During his visit on Friday, Logar will be accompanied by his Croatian counterpart Gordan Grlić Radman.
