Kosovo's Prime Minister Avdulah Hoti signed a decree allowing President Hasim Thaci to initiate the opening of the Israeli diplomatic mission in Pristina, agreed during the White House meeting with the US President Donald Trump in Washington on September 4.

Following the meeting, Israel recognised Kosovo’s independence 12 years after it seceded from Serbia in 2008.

Hoti and Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic headed Pristina and Belgrade delegations at the September 4 meeting which ended in the agreement of economic cooperation between the two sides and opening of Kosovo’s embassy in Jerusalem and moving Serbia’s from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Hoti described Israel as Kosovo’s strategic partner and nominated Ines Demiri as the Charge d’Affairs in Pristina’s embassy in Israel.
