Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said on Thursday that the number of new coronavirus cases had started to fall over the past few days compared to the past two weeks, however, there was still no room for relaxation regarding compliance with epidemiological restrictions.

“It is encouraging that our numbers over the past few days have begun to fall compared to the past two weeks, however, we still need to be maximally responsible because that is the best way to accelerate the fall in the number of infections and deaths,” Plenkovic said at a cabinet meeting.

“Each one of us has an active role in that process and with our conduct we can contribute to protecting lives and health but also the economy and jobs,” he stressed.

That refers particularly to the tourism season, Plenkovic said, expressing satisfaction that Dubrovnik-Neretva County had already begun vaccinating tourism workers.

He added that last weekend he had asked Health Minister Vili Beros to prepare a concrete, updated plan of activities to intensify the process of inoculation and reiterated that in the period from December to the end of June, Croatia would have at least 3.2 million doses of vaccines at its disposal.

“Anyone who wishes to be vaccinated, will be,” he said and once again appealed to citizens, particularly those with chronic diseases and the elderly to get vaccinated at stations that will be set up or already exist throughout the country.
