The health authorities in the coastal city of Rijeka on Saturday started administering COVID vaccines to residents from the wider Rijeka area in the sports hall Zamet.
As many as 500 people should be vaccinated against coronavirus in the course of the day and they will receive Pfizer/BioNTech jabs.
Apart from the vaccination in the sports hall, locals can be vaccinated in some of the primary health care centres, too.
The head of the Rijeka-based regional institute of public health, Vladimir Micovic, said that the plan would be to vaccinate as many elderly citizens as possible against this transmissible virus.
So far, 10% of senior citizens in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County have been administered the second shot of the COVID-19 two-dose vaccine, according to the chief local epidemiologist, Dobrica Roncevic.
