Mayor Tomislav Tomasevic said on Tuesday Zagreb's biggest problem was finance, reiterating that the city budget would be revised in September and that a long-term solution was being sought to financially consolidate the city and its companies.

“We are continuing to talk with banks and the Finance Ministry,” he told the press, reiterating that a recent “400 million kuna loan is a temporary solution.”

Tomasevic said he would say more about a plan to economize and increase the city’s revenues next week.

Responding to questions from the press, he refuted claims that bulky waste disposal had stopped.

Commenting on a 36.5 million kuna bio-waste management tender which the Zagreb Holding multi-utility conglomerate advertised last week, Tomasevic said he hoped the actual price would be lower and that all public entities could apply.

He also condemned last week’s rioting and fighting in Zagreb between Croatian and Polish football supporters, saying it was worrisome.

“I hope there will be no new violence”, he told Dinamo Zagreb supporters ahead of tonight’s match in Poland.
