IOM's official deems there is no migrant crisis in Bosnia

Providing accommodation for migrants and asylum seekers as well as their proper registration upon entry in Bosnia are two priorities, said Peter Van der Auweraert, the International Organization for Migration’s (IOM) Sub-regional Coordinator for the Western Balkans.

Despite the increase in number of migrants arriving in Bosnia, he does not think the crisis level has been reached at this moment.

“A lot will depend on authorities taking the measures to deal with this increased number of migrants and asylum seekers in Bosnia,” said the IOM’s official speaking for N1.

“I don’t think we need to panic in terms of numbers, I think it is very unlikely that we will see tens of thousands of migrants coming to Bosnia, I think it is more likely that we will continue to see the same numbers arriving as we have seen in the past couple of months, which means that we will have one hundred or two hundreds of people a month arriving in Bosnia,” he added.
