The British airline easyJet has chosen Croatia as its destination of the year in the July edition of its in-flight magazine which, for the first time in the company’s history, is entirely dedicated to just one country – Croatia, the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) said on Monday.

“That one of the key European airlines selected Croatia as destination of the year is a great success for us, which also confirms that we are achieving significant and strategically important improvements in this transport segment,” said Kristjan Stanicic, head of the HTZ.

EasyJet chose Croatia as destination of the year due to increased travel and interest, which resulted in Croatia becoming one of the airline’s key destinations, with more than one million passengers flying to the country during the summer months.

There are 49 active easyJet routes just this year, which connect Croatian destinations such as the Adriatic cities of Dubrovnik, Split, Zadar and Pula, with key European cities like London, Berlin, Milan, Paris, and so on, HTZ said in a press release.

The magazine, read by six million passengers each month, will certainly contribute to further promotion of Croatia, HTZ said in a press release.

EasyJet has more than 82 million passengers each year, 13 million of whom are business travellers. With a fleet of more than 300 planes, it services 980 routes, flying to 156 airports in 33 countries.
