Slovenia is quickly returning to normal after a long battle with the coronavirus pandemic, Croatian state agency Hina reported on Wednesday citing the country's Covid numbers. Slovenia's latest new case load is 22 percent down from a week ago, so normalization could occur sooner than had been expected, Hina added.
Over the past 24 hours, there were 726 new cases registered in the country.
The Jozef Stefan Institute, which makes projections of the development of the epidemic for the government, said that the disease’s reproductive number has dropped to 0.83, which means that if this trend continues Slovenia could be in the so-called “green stage” by early June. The classification is automatically triggered after the number of new cases reported daily drops below 300, allowing the return to normal living and economic activities, particularly in tourism.
Slovenia’s government reported today that over the past 24 hours 4,698 PCR tests had been conducted, confirming 726 new cases. There are currently 8,958 active cases in the country. A total of 463 patients are in hospital care, including 128 in intensive care units. The seven-day daily average of new cases now stands at 524.
