A museum of war photography Image of War, which will be located in Hebrangova Street in downtown Zagreb, will open in July after it successfully completed its 15-day crowdfunding campaign, collecting over 50,000 kuna (€6,772) for its first exhibition.

The focus of the first exhibition will be on the destruction wars cause to individuals as well as societies, said the museum curator, Sandra Vitaljic.

This is the first museum in Croatia to be financed through crowdfunding, said Danilo Gregovic, one of the project’s organisers.

The crowdfunding campaign was organised under the slogan War Belongs in a Museum.

The museum will display photos from prominent Croatian and international photographers, as well as amateur photos from the 1991-95 war in Croatia.

People can send their photos to the museum via Facebook or Instagram.

“The museum was supported by dozens of people, whose names will be written on the museum walls. We are especially happy that the people recognised the humanitarian mission of the museum,” Gregovic said.

The proceeds from the tickets will be donated to war victims.
