Starting on July 1, size limits will be dropped for events involving people with digital Covid certificates, Croatia's Interior Minister, Davor Bozinovic, announced at a news conference on Friday.

“People who have been vaccinated, who have recovered from Covid, or who have a negative test for Covid-19 will be allowed to participate in events without having to comply with special restrictions,” state agency Hina quoted Bozinovic as saying.

Hina added that the new measures mostly concern gatherings of persons with EU’s digital Covid certificates. “Events involving such people will not be subject to restrictions on the number of people attending or the duration of the event,” Hina said.

This applies to cases where participants must be cleared to attend the event beforehand, like sports events. For this reason, authorities will not check whether everyone involved has digital certificates and gathering size will be unrestricted.

However, “in other cases where people’s Covid status doesn’t get checked, the current restriction limiting events to a maximum of 100 persons, and the duration of the event until midnight at the latest remains in force,” Bozinovis said.

Cafes will continue to be allowed to serve seated customers only, to avoid crowding and uncontrolled gatherings indoors.

Digital Covid certificates will not be required for any event involving up to 30 persons, as long as people attending adhere to distancing and wear face masks. On the other hand, at events with more than 30 people, such as wedding parties, everyone attending must have a Covid certificate.
