Croatia's GDP grew by 15.8 percent in Q3 2021, on the back of an increase in consumer spending, increased imports, exports, and investments, state agency Hina said on Friday, citing figures released by the state statistics bureau.

This was the second quarter in a row to see strong year-on-year growth, after a 16.5 percent growth was registered in Q2 2021. According to the seasonally adjusted figures, the national economy grew by 2.7 percent quarter-on-quarter.

“These figures indicate that the Croatian economy is on a solid track towards full recovery from the corona crisis, during which the country’s GDP had contracted four quarters in a row,” Hina said. The double-digit recovery in Q3 2021 is also due to a low reference base in Q3 2020 when the Croatian economy shrank by about 10 percent.

Nearly all components of GDP rose in the third quarter of this year, particularly household spending.
