Slovenia worried about opening schools in fall as COVID infection rate increases

In the past 24 hours, 216 new coronavirus cases and no new COVID-19 deaths have been registered in Slovenia as the number of positive tests is rising and concern about opening schools and universities this autumn, should this trend continue, growing.

In the past 24 hours, 11.7% of the 1,848 tests came back positive, the highest percentage in the past two and a half months.

The 14-day incidence has risen to 75.4.

Thirty-six COVID patients are currently hospitalised, five more than on Monday, including seven in intensive care.

The death toll has reached 4,433.

To date, 39.5% of the population has completed vaccination.
