Slovenia's Constitutional Court on Monday decided to annul government's ban on outdoor public gatherings, which the current cabinet led by Janez Jansa had imposed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Croatian state agency Hina reported.
Hina did not say when the ban had been enacted.
“A general ban on public rallies in a democracy is possible only if there is a real risk that such events can produce consequences detrimental to public well-being,” said the court in its ruling.
The constitutional court judges concluded that public rallies outdoors could be allowed if they are organised in compliance with relevant anti-epidemic rules.
In April this year, the court had suspended the ban after it had received an application submitted by a group of citizens who questioned the constitutionality of the ban.
